Aloe Vera, the magical plant

Aloe vera is a succulent plant that has been used for its pharmaceutical virtues since Antiquity. Today, we find it in a wide range of cosmetics and drinks. In spite of this, most of us still don’t use it on a daily basis, although we could use it much more often than we imagine.

I myself never had aloe vera in my bathroom until I went to Asia. There, you can find aloe gel everywhere. So I became more interested in it. Since then, it became one of my essentials to the point that I even cultivate it. Be careful not to confuse the aloe gel with the aloe juice which is a powerful laxative … consider yourself warned.

Aloe vera grows in dry, arid regions and is 98% water. Its active compounds make it a magical plant. There are no less than 20 minerals (potassium, sodium, phosphorus, calcium and magnesium), 20 amino acids, and 12 vitamins (C, B1, B2, B3, B6). This makes it one of the richest plants that exist.

Aloe vera has no toxicity or contraindication. A study done on rats suggests that this plant can be carcinogenic if one eats a large quantity regularly … So avoid to eat it every morning with your cereal.

1 – Aloe Vera and your face

Aloe vera has magical virtues for the skin. As this plant has a strong antioxidant power, it helps fight aging skin and cells in general. On top of that it also moisturizes the skin.

Rather than spending fortunes on anti-wrinkle creams, apply a little aloe vera gel every night before bed. You will get a better result at a lower cost.

2 – Aloe Vera, nails and hair

If aloe vera is good for the skin, then aloe vera is good for your hair and nails as well. If your hair is fragile and split, if you have dandruff, or if your nails are soft and fragile, take care of them with aloe vera.

For hair, use it as a mask before your shampoo.

For the nails, apply a small drop to each nail, and massage the base of the nail to feed the cuticles.

3 – Aloe Vera and burns

After a home accident, I once ended up with a 3rd degree burn on my hand. Yet in my misfortune, I had the chance to meet a nurse who advised me to apply aloe vera in thick layers, and to repeat the process every 3 hours until the burn was completely healed. He told me that he saw this plant perform miracles on patients. In addition to that, aloe vera has antiseptic properties, so there is no risk of infecting an open wound.

Fortunately, I bought some in Thailand! There they prefer to use aloe gel rather than biaffine (ha pharmaceutical lobbying …). I followed the directions of the nurse, and a month later all traces of the burn had disappeared.

Think about it if you spend your summer at the beach. Aloe is a good alternative to liniment.

4 – Aloe Vera and healing

If aloe vera helps to treat burns, then this plant also stimulates healing. Following my burn, I am not left with a single scar.

It is a magic plant to repair the epidermis of the skin since it promotes the renewal of the cells: scars, stretch marks, eczema, psoriasis, urticaria, cuts, abrasions, etc. Treat yourself! Apply aloe vera, and your problem will vanish.

5 – Aloe Vera and your body

So, since aloe vera is a magical treatment for the external cells of our body, one could assume that it can also do good for our organism.

This time, we are no longer talking about gel, but aloe vera in the form of capsules. You can take them as a dietary supplement. This helps to strengthen the metabolism and the immune system, but also to fight digestive problems.

If this plant with 100 virtues convinced you, get a tube of gel as soon as possible. Even better would be to start growing the plant yourself, for external use only. This way you can rest assured that you are using pure gel which is 100% organic. Aloe vera is so great that it is not necessary to have a green thumb. As it is a plant that grows in warm and arid regions, it is sufficient to leave it indoors near a window, and to water it once a week in the summer, and even less often in the winter.

The first time you try to extract the gel, it’s so viscous that your hands will be covered in it and you won’t succeed to get much done. Once you get the hang of it, you will end up with a magic product for zero euros. Furthermore, the branches you cut off grow back very quickly. And every 6 months, you can expect to see a new aloe vera shoot appear that you can offer.
